The Maintenance & Projects Manager ensures the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all plant equipment and facilities while leading maintenance, repair, and improvement initiatives. This role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, optimizing production processes, controlling maintenance and repair (M&R) costs, managing spare parts and inventory, and delivering capital and improvement projects on time and within budget. By coordinating engineering, maintenance, and project teams, the manager drives operational excellence, continuous improvement, and value creation while fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.

Skills

  • Technical and engineering skills: Knowledge of plant engineering functions and system integration
  • Ability to negotiate with contractors for facilities/building maintenance.
  • Ability to estimate, budget and prepare AFE’s for capital projects
  • Ability to develop and manage maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of utility systems, cost tracking, and conservation methods
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and documentation

Accountabilities

  • Ensure plant equipment and systems operate reliably and efficiently. Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize uptime. Manage spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and support maintenance needs.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver capital and improvement projects on time and within budget. Coordinate with engineering and other plant teams to implement process or facility upgrades. Monitor project performance and ensure adherence to designs, specifications, and standards.
  • Control maintenance and repair (M&R) costs, optimizing resource allocation. Develop and manage maintenance budgets and AFEs for projects, Identify opportunities for cost savings and value creation through process optimization.
  • Foster and maintain a strong safety culture across maintenance and project teams. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality regulations. Monitor facility conditions to meet safety, food safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team. Maintain positive labor relations and promote employee engagement and trust. Communicate effectively with plant leadership, engineering, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Track and report key performance metrics for maintenance, uptime, and projects. Identify areas for process improvement, efficiency gains, and reduced spoilage. Implement best practices and standardized procedures to drive operational excellence.

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Expected Hiring Salary Range:  $115,000 - $164,300 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

  • Onsite Work Environment: This position is based in Fort Worth, TX and requires regular in-person engagement by working #onsite. Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
