Our production starts with having the correct high quality tooling to be able to create the products we require. This means that the main purpose of our tooling deaprtment is to provide high level service, maintenance, leadership and training to the production department with regards to tooling through the use of good systems and management techniques.


The key responsibilities include

  • To support and adhere to Environmental, Health and Safety working practices at all times
  • To maintain a high level of housekeeping within the Tooling department and production unit
  • To support production to ensure that quality standards are met in adherence to BRC and ISO 9001 requirements and remedial action taken where necessary.
  • Form part of a cohesive team, including maintenance, shift managers and other departments as required.
  • Take a leading role in the Tooling department and it’s operators/operations through the necessary day to day activities and future planning of company objectives.
  • Identify training needs and implement strategies to align skill levels of all personnel.
  • Ensure corrective actions are carried out in a timely manner and finalised in such a way as they are not revisited



Tooling Department, Machines and Tooling

  • To carry out / support fault finding where tooling is an issue, correct as required and ensure training is communicated.
  • To manage tooling requirements for the current and subsequent future jobs.
  • To manage all spares and systems for ordering, maintaining, and projecting future usages and stores stock control
  • To monitor and control usage, tool life and requisition within the Tooling department
  • Co-ordinate and purchase non stock items
  • Maintain accurate records of all tooling, job changes, and other inputting details in MASA



  • To develop, in conjunction with others, working methods and systems to continuously improve safety, product quality, efficiency and waste.
  • To participate in and support the Leadership team and colleagues in Continuous Improvements projects.
  • To ensure a 6S based system to housekeeping within the Tooling department
  • To the review of SOP such that job change times are reduced, problem diagnosis time is shortened and unexpected breakdowns are limited
  • Support a maintenance system managed that provides a Preventative Maintenance programme and improves the MTBF (mean time between failure) and MTTR (mean time to repair)
  • Support trials and qualifications providing techchnical support and know how including post trial reporting


This is a day role working Monday to Friday but may need some flexibility where needed to provide an exceptional service to the Production Department.
