Position overview:
 

The role will implement Ball’s environmental, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability initiatives and manage the plant’s, EHS, fire safety and property protection (FSPP), sustainability, and security programs to ensure the safety and well-being of all workers and protection of the environment. This position will provide advice and guidance to plant management on EHS, FSPP, sustainability and security issues. EHS Leader will ensure proactive management of EHS, FSPP and security risks to meets compliance obligations and Ball requirements and implement best practice. The EHS Leader coordinates EHS activity, including EHS management systems (ISO and ASI) (certified where applicable).
 
Key responsibilities include:
 
•    Support the delivery of Aerosol division EHS strategy, KPIs and programs as defined by the plant’s local plan and initiatives
•    Monitor, evaluate and report on the KPIs, plans and initiatives
•    Develop and implement BBS and proactive reporting and engagement initiatives such as near miss, hazard and/or good catch. Analyze reports, identify trends and assist in developing programs that promote safe behaviors and a positive safety culture.
•    Identify EHS compliance obligations and stakeholder requirements
•    Provide plant leadership information on compliance obligations
•    Support monitoring and reporting of compliance
•    Implement and maintain hazard identification and risk assessment programmes that apply the hierarchy of control and incorporate the Ball LiFE programme, EHS Centres of Excellence (CoE) and hazard mapping
•    Identify and assess environment aspects and significant impacts assessment for emissions to air, waste, water, wastewater, energy and VOCs. Implement and monitor programs for managing significant environmental impacts such as waste minimization, pollution prevention and ecological issues
•    Make timely reports of EHS incidents and complaints.; Perform investigation and root cause analysis; Monitor status of corrective actions
•    Maintain oversight of FSPP surveys and recommendations
•    Collaborate on EHS requirements linked to projects (new/modifications to lines, equipment, processes etc.) so that new hazards are adequately controlled
•    Support the implementation, testing and training of emergency response plans for foreseeable emergency scenarios and the inspection and maintenance of emergency systems and equipment
•    Monitor, record, analyze and report data as required by Group Sustainability and Ball’s sustainability programs
 
Experience and skills required:
 
•    Relevant EHS qualification to an intermediate level (minimum certificate or local equivalent) including relevant qualification stipulated in the country of operation e.g. UK – NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent)
•    Alternatively Safety supervisor or similar role with relevant experience of at least 3 years in manufacturing, heavy engineering, construction or similar industry and relevant EHS training
•    Good knowledge of EHS legislative requirements
•    Working knowledge of Behavioral-based safety programs
•    Excellent computer skills (Proficient in MS Office Suite)
•    Desirable: Working knowledge of ISO45001 and/or ISO14001 management standards, FSPP, security risks
•    Fluent in English language
