Position overview:

 

Working directly with Senior Management in site leadership teams and taking their lead from the Regional Operations Director, the role has strategic and tactical responsibility to:

  • Manage and continually drive the regional Economic Value Added (EVA) program and coordinate with leadership team to identify and prioritise targeted areas of opportunity across the corporation through execution of multiple waste reduction projects.

  • Developing Lean further into operations through training and education in the general Lean tools, Shingo & Zero Loss (business name for TPM) and for managing major Sector impacting improvement projects.

  • Develops and leads redesign initiatives that encompass end-to-end analysis and future state redesigns within fast-paced environment, utilising process expertise. Managing and leading Lean Savings within the Region, improving the performance of Manufacturing and non-manufacturing KPIs.

  • Engage, facilitate and guide plant Leadership Teams in designing a CI approach that encourages and develops an improvement culture throughout all employee levels within the Region.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Facilitate value stream mapping, business process re-design, kaizen, continuous improvement, lean thinking, cycle time reduction, etc. to simplify and perfect targeted areas.

  • Provide LSS training and leadership of kaizen events, across all levels of the organization.

  • Maintain detailed records of all CI projects.

  • Motivate and engage direct cross-functional teams to desired results through skilful application of the LSS methodology

  • Effectively communicate activities and progress of all projects to all levels of plant employees

  • Run high impact/high return projects in Manufacturing and non-manufacturing disciplines that may have Region wide potential

  • Work closely with Business Leaders to ensure identification and alignment of projects so the EVA program is maintained at all times.

  • Support critical Safety and Quality initiatives in line with the Manufacturing Strategy

  • Deliver training in Lean and process as appropriate to enable functional teams to be actively involved in relevant projects.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing by initiating best practice sharing and benchmarking within the Production Group and outwardly to the Region by liaising with the other Sub-Regional CI Leaders.

  • Be aware of and assess opportunities for new Lean initiatives.

 

  • Develop Shingo across the region by performing Gap Analysis activities and supporting the implementation of actions to move sites towards a Shingo Assessment.

  • Translate Ball Beverage Packaging Europe’s (BBPE’s) overall Manufacturing and Lean Enterprise Strategy into a Sub-Regional Hub deployment plan, become the Regional Ambassador of that plan.

  • Lead Excellence in Performance (EIP) and similar Lean activities to assist Manufacturing sites in achieving their KPIs

  • Involvement in Annual Operating Plan (AOP) target setting for the Hub through liaising with the Regional Operations Director, with a total plan that includes capital resource deployment.

  • Manage Economic Value Added (EVA) through Lean Savings for the Production Group, which includes Gap Analysis, Project selection to ensure savings are achieved and facilitation of support is managed as required

 

Experience required:

 

  • Technical qualification to degree level or relevant experience

  • Lean methodologies

  • Six Sigma Blackbelt certified

  • Has minimum of 5 years’ experience of operating in a Manufacturing environment

  • Financial awareness with basic P+L experience

  • Worked in cross-cultural teams

  • Has managed manufacturing processes effectively

  • Has successfully applied and deployed Lean and Six Sigma Techniques

  • Has managed multiple significant sized projects across multiple geographies

  • Has developed people and teams using multiple Coaching and Training tools

  • Proven strong management and Leadership skills

  • Can flex style to effectively interact with different audiences (from senior leadership to shopfloor)

  • Deliver results through influencing and motivating others Can manage people and projects remotely; can work within a matrix organisation

  • High competence in numerical and analytical skills with the ability to use data to make informed decisions

  • Can grasp business accounting/financial concepts

  • Strong Cultural sensitivity to deal with people from different cultures and backgrounds

  • Can think broadly and proactively about the future needs of the region

  • Has excellent computer literacy skills, specifically Excel and power points skills

  • Excellent understanding of CI concepts, including, Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, Project Management and Problem Solving concepts

  • Capable of designing and implementing sustained improvement Change and Project Management lifecycle.

  • Able to design, develop and monitor KPIs aligned to implemented projects while communicating horizontally and vertically.  

  • Fluency in English
