Position overview:
The Production Manager will manage the manufacturing team, providing the focus and leadership to reach the best safety, quality, cost, and delivery performances. You will assist the Plant Manager with the daily operations of the facility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Being the ambassador of Ball’s culture, driving the right behaviors amongst all plant employees.
- Establish and maintain safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Perform regular safety inspections and meetings, and investigate incidents as required.
- Maintain plant compliance with law regulations, norms, customers, and central requirements.
- Make sure procedures exist are adapted, people are trained and procedures are adhered to.
- Take part in the development and maintenance of the integrated management system.
- Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working instructions for the area of responsibility.
- Plan, lead, and coordinate daily production activities, in order to reach Quality-Cost-Delivery KPIs.
- Plan and manage lines downtimes : maintenance, annual overhauls, annual shutdowns, trials, emergency shutdowns.
- Continuously train the production team: make sure skills are sufficiently and evenly distributed within each production crew.
- Manage and lead people: onboard and train newcomers, plan retirements and succession plans, set individual development plans and objectives, review individual performance, initiate disciplinary action as required.
- Estimate and prepare propositions for the production budget, driving cost optimization.
- Foster a continuous improvement state of mind, identify and execute an improvement plan.
- Manage plant chemical processes: performance and asset care.
Experience required:
- Previous experience in a people leadership role within a large manufacturing facility.
- Engineering background, with relevant degree or qualifications.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and operating in critical 24/7/365 environments.
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Analytical skills and ability to drive outcomes.
- Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
