Primary Purpose of this Position:

 

The Manager, Regional Payroll leads a team of Payroll Leads (Supervisors), Payroll Specialists and Analysts to ensure seamless execution of payroll operations across multiple countries or jurisdictions within the region. Operating within a Global Business Services (GBS) framework, this role is pivotal in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services, while driving standardization, optimization, and continuous improvement across Ball’s payroll landscape.

 

What will you be responsible for?

 

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll procedures and lead a team across the region or sub-region, including the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of payroll systems to ensure accuracy, scalability, and compliance.
  • Lead payroll operations to comply with all relevant local, regional, and international labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements across multiple countries/jurisdictions/various regulated environments and businesses.
  • Collaborate closely with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing for new hires, terminations, and employee lifecycle changes.
  • Owns and leads as the escalation point for payroll discrepancies, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence to ensure all employees in region are paid accurately and on-time with little error; proactively works with team when issues arise and leads issues to appropriate closure.
  • Monitors KPIs for region and analyzes payroll reports across various cycles (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually), providing insights to leadership and supporting audit readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement in vendor management and payroll operations, leveraging technology and process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with payroll vendor relationships, including financial, operational, and compliance risks; leads merger and acquisitions for region, including processes associated and integration into or off boarding.
  • Maintain open and proactive communication with external vendors to resolve issues, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with service-level agreements.
  • Ensure full compliance with SOX controls and Ball’s internal policies, including documentation of financial reporting standards and evidence of internal control adherence.
  • Implement and maintain GDPR-compliant practices for handling sensitive payroll data, including personal identifiers, bank details, and compensation information.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and development of regional payroll team, fostering a high-performing and compliant team culture.

 

What we are looking for:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. A relevant postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g., CPP, CIPP) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in payroll management, with a strong focus on regional operations across multiple countries or jurisdictions.
  • Leadership:
  • Proven track record of leading payroll teams, projects, and transformation initiatives in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Regional Expertise:
  • Deep understanding of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and statutory compliance requirements specific to the region, including multi-country payroll nuances.
  • Technology Proficiency:
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll systems and technologies used in managed services environments, such as ADP Streamline, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Process & Compliance: Strong grasp of internal controls, SOX compliance, GDPR requirements, and financial reporting standards relevant to payroll operations.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively across cultures and seniority levels.
