Position overview:

As the Supervisor, Finance Operations (Capex Focus), you’re a key member of the Global Capital Finance team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Capital / BOE Finance.

You will contribute to the success of Ball by acting as a trusted business partner to the Engineering and Operations teams — driving financial value, transparency, and control in our capital investments across the EMEA region.

This role combines regional technical leadership with hands-on financial analysis and process improvement. You’ll play a critical part in monitoring major capital expenditure (Capex) projects, supporting forecasting and reporting cycles, and ensuring that our financial performance aligns with Ball’s strategic growth and EVA (Economic Value Added) objectives.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a financial partner to Engineering and Operations teams to drive informed decision-making and continuous performance improvement.
  • Managing the tracking and reporting of major capital investments, consolidating monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financials through Ball’s Operational Excellence routines.
  • Supporting global engineering project leaders by ensuring the financial integrity of project cost trackers, including spend phasing, foreign currency exposure, and variance analysis.
  • Assisting in the consolidation and interpretation of capital financial results for month-end close, the annual operating plan (AOP), and quarterly forecasts (3+9, 6+6, 9+3).
  • Analyzing spending trends to identify optimization opportunities and support effective capital deployment.
  • Providing backup and cross-functional support to regional Ops Finance or Capital Finance teams for AOP development, forecasting, and local project control.
  • Supporting finance-led manufacturing initiatives aimed at improving EVA performance and building financial acumen within non-finance teams.
  • Performing ad-hoc financial modelling and analysis to support leadership decision-making.
  • Preparing clear and insightful presentations, summaries, and financial reports for senior management.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in finance, FP&A, or project controlling roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial modelling capabilities (EVA, IRR, DCF).
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, JDE) and Hyperion (Essbase or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple financial activities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Broad understanding of capital investment processes, manufacturing costing, and business performance metrics.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
