The Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit delivers mission system solutions, from specialized antennas to electro-optical technologies, to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of various military platforms, from aircraft and land vehicles to ships and satellites, and give warfighters the advantage they need to take action, identify targets and defend against evolving threats.

 

Technician II/Technician III – Radio Frequency - REWT

 

This position will have RF research and development (R&D) support as its area of specialization.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Will be under the general direction of one or more design and manufacturing engineers but will have considerable autonomy in getting the job done.
  • RF R&D includes primarily RF components (amplifier and switch testing, electronic circuit troubleshooting and repair), but may expand into other areas including antennas and antenna-related components that are in RF/microwave instruments.
  • RF R&D Manufacturing support requires mechanical, as well as RF capabilities to build and test the RF components in question.
  • Perform standard duties and tasks and will resolve routine questions and problems independently.
  • Work will be performed under general direction on a day-to-day basis and will be reviewed upon completion.
  • Develop thorough technical solutions to a wide range of problems and may direct those less familiar with applicable programs.
  • Be compliant with program directives and company policies.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

 

  • Technician II - High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree.
  • Technician III - High School diploma or equivalent plus 4 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 2 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Ability to communicate with and relate well with engineering and production ranks.
  • Ability to work in both a limited production and a R&D environment.
  • Ability to develop a wide range of R&D-support capabilities, in order to get involved in either multiple programs or multiple aspects of the same program.
  • General knowledge of hand tools and Electrical/RF test equipment (spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, DVM, etc.).
  • Ability to work around and move heavy equipment (overhead cranes, hydraulic lift systems, Forklift operations…etc.).
  • Machining capabilities and AutoCAD.
  • Should have a general appreciation of RF theory.
  • Trained in any combination of soldering, bonding, and sealing, machining, network analyzer operation, and antenna troubleshooting.

 

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A DoD Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR TECHNICIAN II: $23.56 - $31.13 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR TECHNICIAN III: $28.13 - $37.98 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
