Technical Fellow
Ball Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Low Observable Engineering Fellow. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in designing and developing LO antennas and antenna systems. They will have a demonstrated, successful work record of leading multidiscipline teams through the design lifecycle of a product. The candidate should be proficient in the use of modern RF modeling and simulation tools as well general RF test equipment.
What You’ll Do:
- Be a teacher and leader, developing and improving new-in-role engineers to allow Ball Aerospace to meet our current and future customer needs.
- Generate and drive technical roadmaps for new technologies.
- Train and mentor new employees as well as work with business development teams to capture new opportunities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 20 or more years of related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- Knowledge and experience in generating system level requirements and block diagrams, with subsequent allocation to product level requirements, aircraft installation specifications, and integration & test plans.
- Experience in writing technical proposals and/or end-user documentation (manuals, Tech Orders, training material, etc.).
- Hands-on experience integrating complex systems in a lab and on platforms.
- Experience with Radar Cross Section (RCS) reduction of radomes and antennas.
- Experience performing RCS measurement/test, prediction and/or design.
- Understanding of typical RF materials, modeling and use in LO applications.
- Solid understanding of antennas, phased arrays and LO engineering principles.
- Experience designing and integrating technical software solutions.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
- Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent communication skills.
Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $175,500 - $243,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
- Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
