Engineer Principal/Staff Consultant – Structural (Active Secret Clearance Required)

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to a structural analysis team.
  • Use closed form and finite element analysis techniques in stress analysis and structural dynamics.
  • Develop loads and environments for structure and components.
  • Perform structural analysis on advanced tactical systems, optics, mechanisms, and ground support equipment.
  • Support structural and environmental testing for static, modal, acoustic, shock, and vibration.
  • Compile and prepare data for technical meetings and end-item product delivery.
  • Review drawings, procedures and engineering orders for completeness, compatibility, producibility, and correctness.
  • Write detailed reports for test and analysis activities.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You'll Need:

 

  • Engineer Principal - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 12 or more years related experience.
  • Staff Consultant - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A Master of Science Degree in a structures related field is preferred.
  • A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Nastran experience with static, modal, buckling, and frequency response.
  • The ability to support multiple efforts and manage competing priorities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Proficiency preferred in the following areas:
    • General Software: Simcenter, FEMAP, LS-Dyna, Abaqus, MATLAB, Adams, Solidworks, Python
    • FEM Applications: Explicit, Transient, Nonlinear, Multibody Dynamics, Line of Sight, and Jitter
    • Structural Analysis: Bolted and Bonded Joints, Welds, Electronics, Antennas, Fracture and Fatigue
    • Materials: Composites, Ceramics, and other high temperature materials

 

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR ENGINEER PRINCIPAL: $147,000 - $185,250 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR STAFF CONSULTANT: $164,500 - $207,750 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
