Director – Diversity & Inclusion

 

Ball Aerospace is in search of a Director of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) to build and scale our diversity and inclusion strategy into every aspect of our company and culture. Key focus will be on partnering to increase workforce diversity by aiding in effectively recruiting, developing and retaining our diverse workforce and designing programs to foster an inclusive workplace where employees feel they belong.  This position reports directly to the President of Ball Aerospace and will work closely with stakeholders across the company including the Aerospace Executive Team, Human Resources and the Ball Corporation Diversity & Inclusion team. 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Develop, implement, manage and evaluate Ball Aerospace’s D&I strategy in alignment with company goals and in partnership with Ball Corporation’s D&I team to deliver measurable results.
  • Serve as a thought leader who will raise awareness, implement best practices from a variety of industries and develop a D&I vision with company leaders.
  • Identify unconscious bias that lead to discrimination, inequality, and exclusion; partner with Human Resources to deliver effective techniques to help managers and employees overcome stereotypes and biases.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) on programs, and initiatives to improve recruitment, development and retention of our diverse high-performing workforce.
  • In partnership with HR, develop meaningful metrics, tools, and analytics that enable leadership to evaluate D&I performance and integration and effectiveness of our D&I strategy.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team; provide guidance and secure support from senior-level leaders in equity, diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Collaborate with our Ball Resource Groups (BRGs) and internal allies in order to analyze & improve the organizational D&I climate.
  • Build key relationships with diverse professional, academic and community organizations.
  • Partner with the Marketing & Communications team to develop and lead a communications plan that includes Ball Aerospace intranet and website content to promote D&I activities, initiatives and messages for both the internal audience and for potential candidates in the recruitment process.
  • Conduct research and analysis to provide insight on developing diversity workforce management trends.
  • Partner with the HR Talent & Organizational Development (T&OD) team on the development and delivery of D&I training for employees.
  • Shape and integrate D&I within Ball Aerospace’s policies, procedures and processes.
  • Perform such individual assignments as directed; establish and maintain effective work relationships within Ball Aerospace, Ball Corporation, and the community; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • BS/BA in a professional field plus 15 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience in a Diversity & Inclusion related position as well as experience related to a leadership position within a business function preferred.
  • Strong influencing skills with an ability to drive alignment across executives and peers at all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated success in developing cutting edge strategy and driving process improvements with regard to D&I issues in the workplace.
  • Excellent communication skills, including effective writing, listening, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Proven willingness and ability to be hands-on and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 10% of the time.
  • Experience within the Aerospace & Defense industry a plus.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
