Associate Engineer – EMI / EMC

We are looking for Electrical Engineers with technical expertise in EMI/EMC who can help transform photons into new digital information.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with senior EMI/EMC engineers to support a variety of electronic designs at Ball Aerospace including space, airborne, and ground-based systems.
- Contribute to the definition of electronics EMI compliant architecture for subsystem and assembly level hardware. This includes: technology assessments, instrument and/or spacecraft requirements review, requirements analysis and allocation at an electronic box level, support electrical subsystem trade studies, support hardware development efforts for current and future program needs and provide test support during environmental EMC testing.
- Support instrument remote sensing and/or spacecraft bus programs especially in the areas of EMI/EMC requirements, design, issues and testing (unit level and system level).
- Document the results of analyses associated with the applying EMC requirements to components subsystems, cables and harnesses.
- Document test results and exceedances and write post-test compliance reports.
- Participate in activities in all phases of a program life cycle from concept development to delivery.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Knowledge of the physics of EMI/EMC and system interactions at the physical layer.
- Familiarity with circuit modeling tools such as LTSPICE or equivalent.
- Knowledge of electromagnetics, to include transmission lines, antennas, cable coupling and electromagnetic transients
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-461/462/1541 and SMC-S-016 testing requirements is desired.
- Familiarity with electromagnetic modeling tools, such as Ansys, HFSS, FEKO, etc. is desired.
Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $73,500 - $91,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
