Engineer I – Biosciences Research

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Provide engineering & research support to a multi-disciplinary team of Biosciences researchers and engineers exploring individualized neural learning systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers to understand software requirements and offer engineering approaches tailored to study needs.
  • Design, develop, and integrate custom software to support human-performance research studies.
  • Develop and apply Machine Learning approaches to predict brain states associated with learning.
  • Co-author research reports, research proposals, user’s manuals, and other technical documents to clearly describe software implementations.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capability Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Machine Learning approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting human research experiments.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a predictable work schedule with occasional flexibility for evening or weekend work to meet deadlines, as needed.

 

Hybrid Work Environment: This position may be performed working from both the office and another location, while typically requiring working in the office less than 3 days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

 

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.  By applying to this position, you are agreeing to complete a National Security Clearance Pre-Screen Questionnaire to evaluate your general ability to obtain the required security clearance or government customer access associated with this position.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $78,000 - $97,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
