The Systems Engineering Solutions Strategic Business Unit provides advanced systems engineering and technology applications for intelligence and information enterprises. These applications and solutions deliver enterprise data management, data analytics, modeling and simulation, and technology assessment capabilities that are used to create products that offer actionable information in support of warfighters and decision makers.

Engineer Associate – Systems


What You’ll Do:


  • Design, develop, and maintain software for leading edge mission capabilities and mission systems using modern software design and development environments and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Advanced Programs team to build industry-leading capabilities in a rapidly growing market.
  • Recommend and develop improvements to existing software programs.
  • Work with a diverse team of engineers and analysts in a fast-paced development setting.
  • Communicate effectively with a team.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish maintain effective working relationships within the department, the strategic business unit, and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


What You’ll Need:


  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Computer Science is preferred.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as C++, Python, Java, Go, or Kotlin.
  • Experience source code management systems such as Git.
  • Experience Agile software development practices including requirements, design, coding, debugging, unit testing, configuration management, and integration.
  • Experience with messaging, such as RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, SQS, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Kaka, etc. is preferred.
  • Experience with software development in Electronic Warfare (EW) and/or radar systems is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS or Azure is preferred.
  • Experience with container management technologies such as Docker and orchestration software such as Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Experience with algorithm development and maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience with developing for ARM is preferred. 


Working Conditions:


  • Work is performed in an office, clean room, laboratory, manufacturing floor or machine shop environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.


A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.  By applying to this position, you are agreeing to complete a National Security Clearance Pre-Screen Questionnaire to evaluate your general ability to obtain the required security clearance or government customer access associated with this position.


Relocation for this position is not available.


Compensation & Benefits:


  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $69,500 - $86,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
