The Systems Engineering Solutions Strategic Business Unit provides advanced systems engineering and technology applications for intelligence and information enterprises. These applications and solutions deliver enterprise data management, data analytics, modeling and simulation, and technology assessment capabilities that are used to create products that offer actionable information in support of warfighters and decision makers.



Dataflow Engineer I


What You’ll Do:

  • Design, configure, and manage operational SIGINT processing system dataflows on DoD classified and unclassified networks.
  • Establish new and maintain existing operational dataflows.
  • Monitor daily/weekly/monthly dataflow metrics for indication of anomalies.
  • Evaluate and validate dataflow formats and work with developers to correct errors or enhance content.
  • Devise methods to improve dataflow processing, distribution, and reliability.
  • Work entrenched in a customer environment installing, managing, and maintaining dataflows and advising the client on the use of dataflows you setup and maintain for them.
  • Produce dataflow metrics reporting as required by customer requirements.
  • Work schedule may be unpredictable and may need to travel on short notice.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development, or a related technical field is required, plus 2 or more years of related experience. 
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with Apache NiFi (NiagraFiles).
  • Experience maintaining dataflow scripts (BASH, Python, etc.).
  • Experience authoring and maintaining System Engineering documents.
  • Experience creating documentation using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio).
  • 1 or more years supporting projects within a collaborative environment and employing configuration management.
  • Experience implementing life cycle management (requirements, design, develop, test, validate, deploy).


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required. 
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS government and non-government locations may be required. 



Current Clearance Required:

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $96,688 - $119,878 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
