Staff Consultant – Mission Architect: Geolocation and Line of Sight

 

This position is for an experienced Mission Architect to provide engineering leadership across multiple and diverse new business pursuits for National Defense, Commercial and Civil programs by developing concepts to meet customer mission needs in the areas of space-based geolocation and satellite LOS control. This position will report to the manager of the Systems Engineering department. The responsibility includes architecture design, detailed design, analysis, modeling, test, performance verification of the sub-elements needed for geolocating remote sensing data, and the performance of the system during operations. 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Provide engineering leadership across multiple and diverse new business pursuits by developing concepts to meet customer mission needs in the areas of space-based geolocation and satellite LOS control.
  • Represent Ball Aerospace at relevant industry conferences and working groups.
  • Lead internal working groups and communities of interest in the areas of Geolocation and Line of Sight.
  • Define System CONOPS.
  • Contribute to new IRAD/ technology development concepts.
  • Provide systems engineering support to technical teams to define architectures for Geolocation and Line of sight.
  • Objectively define, execute, and report on trade studies that provide data for decision making to our customers.
  • Creatively apply our heritage and expertise to solve customer problems in novel and cost-effective ways.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
  • Support technical proposal development.
  • Motivate team members by keeping them informed of program-level objectives, execution strategy, and mission goals.
  • Work with our prime and government customers to effectively translate mission-level needs to system requirements.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capability Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • MS in Aerospace, Engineering, Systems, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Experience in developing or using Geolocation Algorithms and LOS knowledge and control is required.
  • Customer Relationships: Extensive knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas. Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base, established relationships with key personnel within customer community.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in relevant business environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and analyzing mission concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including mission analysis, use cases, requirements development, concept of operations, requirement allocation, change management, verification, and validation.
  • Superb presentation skills with documented presentation experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.

 

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $187,000 - $236,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
