Systems Administrator II – Windows/VMware

 

We are seeking a Systems Administrator II with Microsoft Windows experience and strong troubleshooting skills. In this role, the systems administrator will work on a team supporting program initiatives in secure, isolated computing environments. The administrator will be expected to team with peers and internal customers to strengthen the consistency and standardization of IT infrastructure and services achieve operational excellence and program success. While this position is an individual contributor role, collaboration and strong technical knowledge and skills will be essential attributes. 

 

What You'll Do: 

 

  • Install, maintain, and support multiple Windows-based servers on physical and virtual platforms.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to address stability objectives both reactively and proactively.
  • Maintain a secure computing environment, including adherence to backup schedules, patching, virus updates, application of security controls (including STIGs) and regular security scanning and remediation.
  • Interface with internal customers, program security, and management teams in planning for, maintaining, and resolving issues with services and systems.
  • Perform scheduled weekend and after-hours tasks, as well as after-hours emergency support (as required).
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You'll Need:

 

  • Related Bachelor’s and 5 or more years of related experience; or HS Diploma and 11 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for additional years of experience.
  • Related certifications may count towards years of related experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is required.
  • Must hold DoD approved 8570 baseline certifications (Security+ CE, CASP CE, CISSP, etc.).
  • Experience should include strong knowledge of planning, configuring, maintaining, patching and monitoring in a Microsoft Windows server environment.
  • Experience with VMware virtualization products (Horizon, vSphere ESXI, vCenter).
  • Strong documentation skills, organization skills, and ability to interact with team members cross-functionally.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with storage appliances and Brocade storage networking
    • Experience with Windows OS imaging, installation, and support.
    • Experience with intel-based server class and desktop hardware.
    • Experience with group policy, user and password maintenance in Microsoft Active Directory.
    • Experience troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and related connectivity issues.

 

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,000 - $120,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
