Engineer I – Electrical Design

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Apply innovative design techniques to create defense-oriented, cutting-edge electronic systems. 
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment on a variety of R&D, proof of concept, and production programs.
  • Develop analog and digital hardware for electromechanical systems.
  • Assignments will include design and hands-on build/integration of electronic hardware for prototyping and/or field use.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, systems and software engineers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You'll Need:

 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required and a TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is preferred
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Embraces a “fail early, fail often” approach to hardware development.
  • Understanding of signal conditioning for analog sensors.
  • Understanding of various serial communication interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, RS485, etc.) and their use in within an electromechanical system.
  • Has experience in operating lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, logic analyzers, etc.
  • PCB layout experience desired (Altium preferred).
  • Electromechanical design, assembly and/or test experience is a plus.
  • Python experience for data analysis, instrument interfacing or application development is desired.
  • Embedded C/C++ development for ARM is a plus.
  • Hardware prototyping and fabrication experience (soldering, wiring, etc.) is desired.
  • Experience with high voltage (kilovolts) DC is a plus.
  • Electrical system integration experience is desired.
  • System and/or board level grounding and EMC best practices is a plus.
  • Environmental design experience (temperature, shock, etc.) is a plus.
  • Good communication skills, as well as excellent presentation skills.

 

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $88,500 - $109,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
