Analyst Senior – Financial Planning & Analysis


Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Budgets and Rates Senior Analyst.


What You’ll Do:


  • Lead and become the company subject matter expert for the budgeting tool, Workday Adaptive Planning, related to FP&A business processes, security, and data integrity for the application including strategy, implementation support, maintenance, policies, optimization, training, and enhancements.
    • Manage data from source systems as appropriate.
    • Serve as liaison with ITS & Accounting.
    • Create and maintain master data such as levels, accounts, dimensions, and attributes.
    • Monitor deployment of additional cloud-based functionality/upgrades/releases, complete and coordinate testing and communication to key stakeholders.
    • Manage business rules and associated models impacting calculations, allocations and repositories built within Workday for the purposes of facilitating the Company's annual budgeting exercise and recurring forecasts.
    • Plan, review, and revise configurations and customizations to meet evolving business and operational needs.
    • Develop, document, and implement policies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices to ensure data integrity and standardized end user processes.
    • Lead internal trainings and regular information sharing activities.
    • Troubleshoot intermittent data and/or break/fix issues.
    • Maintain user permissions and role access.
    • Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective & efficient application configuration.
    • Understand indirect activity and allocation methods.
    • Drive efficiencies into reporting and process automation.
    • Perform additional tasks related to the administration of Adaptive Insights as needed.
  • Be a Budget Process Owner responsible for budget inputs within cycle.  Be responsible for current, accurate and complete budgets and rates.
    • Liaison with stakeholders.
    • Coordinate within the budget process.
    • Reports within FP&A for Ball Aerospace.
    • Participate in and lead departmental meetings.
    • Influence stakeholder understanding of budgets and rates with desired EVA outcomes.
    • Train on budgeting, structure, allocations, and budget management.
    • Prepare and present budgets and rates information.
    • Analysis and value-added recommendations.
    • Contribute and adhere to FP&A work instructions and processes.
    • Support timely Forward Pricing Rate Proposal (FPRP) efforts.
    • Analyze data using financial tools including trends, variance analysis and root causes.
    • Support most-likely rate scenarios with recommendations. Provide what-if rate analyses and other ad-hoc analysis.
  • Be responsible for understanding FP&A within a US Government contractor.
  • Support audits: SOX, FPRP, Business Systems and others.
  • Understand indirect activity and allocation methods.
  • Drive efficiencies into reporting and process automation.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary. 


What You’ll Need:


  • BS/BA in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Minimum of two full life cycle implementations with Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to be highly analytical along with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to prepare and present pertinent financial information.
  • Ability to be a strong team player, professional, and conscientious.
  • Ability to maintain a manager agreed work schedule with ongoing communication.
  • Possess sound critical thinking decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and drive for results.
  • Ability to inspires self and others, make lasting connections, and achieve results within a team environment.
  • Preferred tool knowledge:
    • Deltek Costpoint.
    • Microsoft: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
    • Business Objects.


Hybrid Work Environment: This position may be performed working from both the office and another location, while typically requiring working in the office less than 3 days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:


  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,000 - $120,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
