The Security and Mission Assurance Strategic Support Unit provides discriminating support to the business to ensure success. We focus on threat identification, risk assessment, and mitigation while improving the efficiency of the business through effective governance and analysis of process, data and overall business knowledge.

 

The Ball Aerospace Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive wage; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; possible future employment and the ability to participate in the Ball Aerospace Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) program to build and launch a rocket or high-altitude balloon.  At the conclusion of your internship, you will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of your project work to your respective department.

 

Technical Intern – Mission Systems Assurance EEE Parts Engineering

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Under the general supervision of a Mission Systems Assurance (MSA) Systems EEE Parts Engineer, support the further development of Ball Aerospace’s internal GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program) implementation through streamlining the new software platform, which will provide a greater insight into the role MSA Systems Parts Engineering plays within the Security and Mission Assurance Support Business Unit and Ball Aerospace Organization as a whole.
  • Engineer efficiencies and organize a new Ball Proprietary Platform, with ownership of a project having defined milestones, with high MSA visibility.
  • Be mentored by MSA Leadership and Systems EEE Parts Engineers to understand the role and future employment opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You´ll Need:

 

  • Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2021. We will also accept students enrolled in a post graduate program.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Physics, or Applied Physics, or related technical degree field.
  • Have a track records of highly collaborative working skills in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong written, communication, oral presentations skills, and ability to lead group discussions.
  • Strong analytic capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to document analysis results and write reports.
  • Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent teamwork.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
