Project Manager III – Power Systems

 

This position is for an experienced project manager who can help the Electrical Power and Distribution Subsystem team manage the cost, schedule and earned value execution for spacecraft efforts across the company.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • EPDS cost account manager and project manager experience and understanding
  • Familiarization with Ball practices and processes when it comes to cost account management (CAM) and Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Be able to manage cost, schedule, and execution efforts for multiple programs
  • Be able to provide cost estimating and proposal writeups for new business opportunities
  • Act as liaison between program management, project team, functional management, and the customer.
  • Develop and manage tracking tool database for department that encompasses current and possible future opportunity from a labor hours, cost and schedule perspective.
  • Plan, execute, monitor, control, document, and communicate all aspects of projects: cost, schedule, scope, technical performance, and resource use.
  • Develop, manage, document, and communicate project schedules.
  • Prepare and communicate status reports and develop mitigation plans to reduce cost and schedule risk.
  • Develop, use, and maintain tools to monitor project progress.
  • Plan and execute all project closing activities: contract closure, compilation of lessons learned, and archiving of business artifacts.
  • Work daily with the larger EPDS team on procurements and programmatics.
  • Establish excellent supplier relationships (batteries, solar arrays, and Electrical Solutions team)
  • Work with team to prepare and manage hardware definition and interfaces. A hardware background is required.
  • Extensive technical writing (proposal development, contractual elements, procedural definitions, specifications, interfaces, analysis support and description documents) is preferred.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • BS/BA in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph is required.
  • A solid understanding of all aspects of planning, scheduling, hardware specifications, and interface control.
  • Previous experience utilizing Microsoft Project is required
  • Previous earned value management experience is highly desired.
  • Proven expertise in subcontract management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective in multidisciplinary large-team work environment with broad responsibilities and minimal oversight.

 

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $111,000 - $154,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
