<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Technician II - Optical

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">We are seeking an Optical Technician who has optical laboratory and optical system assembly experience.  You will work with optics that will be integrated into complex space-based optical sensors for NASA and DoD markets.   

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">What You’ll Do:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Make measurements and analyze data using basic math skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Produce data packages and reports using Microsoft Office tools.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Build custom optical measurement setups.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Perform optical alignment of complex optical sensors.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Operate commercial and custom optical instrumentation.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Integrate optical components into higher level assemblies.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Perform other duties as necessary.

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">What You’ll Need:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">High School diploma and 4 years’ experience, or a two-year technical degree with 2 or more years of related experience is required.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience working in cleanroom environments.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Optical lab, optical assembly, optical test setup, and optical alignment experience; space-based optical system experience is preferred.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working knowledge of optical technology, hands-on experience in optical component integration and characterization, and a mechanical aptitude for working with delicate opto-mechanical hardware.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to run technical software programs.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strong attention to detail.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work with many different disciplines.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to perform delicate optical assembly and bonding work.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Electronic aptitude is desirable.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to perform work at all Ball Aerospace’s Colorado campuses (Boulder, Broomfield and Westminster) for extended periods is required.

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"> Working Conditions:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

 

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.  By applying to this position, you are agreeing to complete a National Security Clearance Pre-Screen Questionnaire to evaluate your general ability to obtain the required security clearance or government customer access associated with this position.
