Engineer Senior – Mission Systems Assurance

 

Execute Parts Engineering requirements and Systems Engineering expertise across Ball Aerospace’s programs, customer base, and engineering departments, from a Systems Engineering Perspective to lead a Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Board (PMPCB) for a large Prime Program.  Work with the Mission Systems Assurance (MSA) Systems EEE (Electronic, Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) Parts Engineering team and Mission Assurance Managers (MAMs) to effectively manage and execute the PMPCB for Ball in a Prime Role, as well as establishing Parts Engineering requirements appropriate for the hardware, mission, and customer base.  Support Parts Engineering requirements and recommendations across the company to establish standards and consistency for current mission success and for future execution.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Direct a meeting that is attended by employees from multiple companies and government entities and customers.  To accomplish this, the candidate must be able to understand Aerospace Systems and EEE (Electronic, Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) Parts requirements and the acceptable deviations from the requirement set.
  • Keep the conversation on track and to the point, as well as be able to diplomatically manage diverse and experienced personalities.
  • Guide conversations with differing opinions to closure.
  • Pre-coordinate a weekly meeting through e-mail and phone conversations, communicating the agenda to the customer.
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to request agenda items and close actions resulting from weekly meeting.
  • Track approvals and work with SMEs to approve all non-standard items in a timely manner.  This will require working with subcontractors to submit documentation and amend documentation to contain required information.
  • Navigate contractual details with diplomacy.
  • Support establishing Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Board (PMPCB) processes and procedures for large Prime Programs.
  • Assist in review of Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) for completeness of material prior to presentation at the PMPCB.
  • Coordinate between MSA and Design Assurance (DA) EEE Parts Engineers for NSPAR assignments and tracking to completion.
  • Be personally mentored one-on-one by both a Staff Consultant SME and Principle Engineer SME in the MSA Systems EEE Parts Engineering Department, with 45 years of combined direct EEE Parts Engineering experience.
  • Support the development of Mission Assurance Plans (MAPs) and implement the program strategy, policies, and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with all company and government requirements.
  • Support establishing companywide EEE Parts policy and procedures to ensure appropriate requirements based on mission type and customer base.
  • Support risk assessments to program management on application of a wide range of EEE Parts commodity types and requirements levels.
  • Provide and communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a EEE Parts program to the project team as well as the customer.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to customers and senior management relative to EEE parts engineering.
  • Provide support to subcontractor EEE Part requirements allocation.
  • Provide oversight to subcontractor electronics execution of EEE part requirements including review, feedback, and approval of EEE parts.
  • Work with classified documents which requires thorough knowledge of DoD procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
  • Translate written requirements from both internal and external sources into simple, straight-forward requirements.
  • Utilize a highly intuitive aptitude to identify potential risk from early program decisions.
  • Positively train / educate / mentor junior MSA Systems Engineers.
  • Efficiently learn new subjects / techniques / software, without, necessarily, the assistance of others.
  • Proficiently track costs and schedules of Systems EEE (Electronic, Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) Parts in support of a given program.
  • Interface with Program Managers, MAMs, and customers.
  • Utilize mathematical software tools.
  • Write clear and concise reports.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You´ll Need:

 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace and Astronautical Engineering or a related technical field is strongly preferred
  • 8 or more years of continuous, related, progressive experience in the Astronautical Systems Engineering discipline is preferred.
  • MBA is desirable.
  • A track record of highly collaborative working skills in a team environment.
  • Willingness to assist other MSA Systems Engineers in completing their tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate and track the details of large data sets.
  • A good understanding of EEE parts and associated industry standards.
  • A current TS/SCI security clearance required.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Government Security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required

 

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $126,500 - $159,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
