Engineer Senior – Electrical

 

In this role, you will support a cross-functional team in the design, fabrication, test, and integration of electronics. The cross-functional team could include but is not limited to engineers in the following disciplines: Electrical Systems, Mechanical Packaging, Electrical Circuit Design, Parts & Reliability, Radiation, RF, Production and Test Engineers. 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Serve as a lead electrical engineer on a collaborative and multi-disciplinary research and development team designing and developing analog, digital, and RF circuits and systems and related diagnostics and other general research and development projects.
  • Conceive and develop electrical design solutions for prototype analog, RF, and digital hardware operating in noisy electromagnetic environment through the application of industry-wide accepted engineering techniques, practices, and procedures.  Assignments may be very diverse and technically difficult.
  • Ensure the producibility of electrical designs and products. Compile, integrate and evaluate design and performance data to determine adequacy and completeness of the electrical design and compare with requirements and specifications.
  • Develop electronics to NASA, DoD, and NOAA customer quality and reliability standards.
  • Use industry accepted software tools to analyze and evaluate solutions to meet desired requirements or specifications.
  • Compile and prepare necessary data and engineering items to support technical meetings and end-item product delivery.
  • Obtain quotations and work with selected subcontractors or vendors to facilitate productions of components for integration into large project products.
  • Review drawings, procedures and engineering orders for completeness, compatibility, producibility and correctness.
  • Organize, analyze, write and present technical material for team, management or customer events. Events may include informal and formal technical or status reviews (e.g., PDRs, and CDRs)
  • Collaborate with experimentalists, computational scientists or other project personnel to conduct detailed modeling or formulate experimental requirements to support project goals.
  • May lead more junior engineers in defining their work assignments, checking their work for accuracy, and providing guidance and feedback.
  • May be responsible for tracking accomplishments against cost, budget and schedule for assigned projects.
  • Participate in business development activities as required.
  • Follow Department of Defense procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. MS or PhD preferred.
  • 8 or more years of experience as an electrical engineer preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with standard electrical design and analysis tools.
  • Experience working in a research environment preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

 

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $133,500 - $168,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
