The Systems Engineering Solutions Strategic Business Unit provides advanced systems engineering and technology applications for intelligence and information enterprises. These applications and solutions deliver enterprise data management, data analytics, modeling and simulation, and technology assessment capabilities that are used to create products that offer actionable information in support of warfighters and decision makers.

 

Ball Aerospace’s Albuquerque, New Mexico office is a key provider of science and technology services to the Air Force Research Laboratory and other government research and development organizations. Advanced Systems Manager II – Business Development for Laser Technologies

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Identify, research, and monitor potential business opportunities associated with Laser Technologies within the local and national Government-related markets for subsequent pursuit and capture. 
  • Use the Ball business development tracking process for developing pursuit and investment decisions.
  • Develop and present strategies and roadmaps to management for sustaining and growing existing business.
  • Prepare and submit proposals, ROMS, RFI/RFQ responses, and white papers.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other business development personnel within the Ball Aerospace organization to pursue larger synergistic opportunities.
  • Serve as the management and technical focal point for assigned laser technologies business areas.
  • Develop informational material to support proposal preparation, business development and general marketing.
  • Attend Government sponsored industry days, trade shows, and other business-related information gathering events.
  • Manage new business overhead budgets and associated projects for assigned area.
  • Participate in the IR&D coordination and development process for assigned business area.
  • Conduct analysis to identify relevant information pertaining to business pursuits of interest.  Ensure proposed solutions will close on mission requirements or stated objectives.
  • Collaborate with other technologists, researchers, engineers to understand existing or near-term capabilities for formulating business pursuits.
  • Operate as a program lead with assigned technical staff and infrastructure personnel (contracts, talent acquisition, security, supply chain management, etc.) to stand up and execute new business opportunities.  In general, operate as an “acting” program manager until a permanent program manager can assume the responsibilities.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Follow Department of Defense procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Science, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred.
  • MS or PhD preferred.
  • Demonstrated and recognized expertise in area related to Laser Technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with business development.
  • Demonstrated experience in program/project leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an engineering or research environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

 

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $136,000 - $187,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
